A setting to only keep full sets in the RomRoot

Most people do not want partial sets included in their RomRoot if they intend to use the games in emulators. This is particularly problematic for split bin/cue dumps where tracks may be shared across many discs.

Dark mode

Added in: RV 3.5.1 RomVault is very bright and can cause eye strain. A dark mode option would be greatly appreciated!

Add a way to purge old DATs

DATVault never deletes old DATs, so these *.old files can clutter up your DATRoot and take up space.

If a file cannot be scanned for any reason then log the error in the status window and continue the scan

Currently RV halts the scanning operation. Ideally the file should be flagged with a blue status and continue with the scan.

Filter for MIA ROMs

There is currently no way to filter MIA roms in the game list grid. It would be helpful if the user could show / hide sets that have MIA ROMs.

Ability to use “Category” tags for auto-created subdirectories

Enhance ZipMove to fix with a partially complete archive

Today ZipMove will only be used to fix a set if it will be fixed to completion by overwriting with a new archive. Ideally ZipMove should be used to fix a set with the best available archive even if its still incomplete.

Consolidate No-Intro P/C and Numbered DATs

No-Intro offers standard, parent/clone, and numbered DAT variations which can be consolidated. As of March 2023 No-Intro standard DATs contain all P/C and number info within them.

A setting to scan both the contents of archives and archives themselves when in “Files” mode

Allow anyone to send MIA Found info

Added in: 3.5.0 WIP5 Today only DatVault subscribers can send MIA Found info back to DatVault. This should be opened up so anyone can send MIA Found info if they opt-in to do so. The user should also have the option to send info anonymously.

Create default directories for new setups (DatRoot, RomRoot, ToSort)

After the first run, create the ToSort, DATRoot and ROMRoot directories, if they not exist

Remove chdman.exe dependency for thorough CHD scanning

ROMVault currently only supports natively scanning early versions of CHD and must use chdman.exe for decompressing and hashing newer versions like v5 which are most common. Update ROMVault to have native CHD scanning support for v1 through v5.

Integrate TorrentZipUI into RomVault

Added in: 3.5.0 WIP5 Provide a way to easily access TorrentZipUI from the main RomVault application instead of requiring a separate standalone application.

Display the cache timestamp files/archives

The timestamps in the RomVault cache are the only useful data point that is hidden from the user. Surfacing this information could be very useful for debugging timestamp related issues.

Create a new icon for renames

Currently the orange status is used for two different types of fixes which can be confusing.

Improve the usability for color blind users

The ROM status icons are difficult to interpret for color blind users. Usability should be improved with mouseover text or alternate icons.

Dry run fix preview

Ability to perform a dry run fix with logging that shows what RomVault would do (Useful when changing directory settings to see the impact)

Handle locked files better during scanning

Today locked files throw an error and about the scanning process. It would be better if RomVault flagged these files as locked and continued with the scan.
